Leaving Home...

WOW!! Where do I begin! The plane ride was absolutely the longest day of my life! Saying bye to my parents, melissa and aaron was very difficult too. Flying over Alaska was georgous, and I had a blast talking to all the exchange students and random other people on the plane. Everyone was so friendly!! When we all got to Tokyo, we (rotary students) were all excited to be in another country and were impressed with the heated/water washing/noise making toilets!! I couldn't manage to get a picture though..:( (too many people in the bathroom) We met the rest of the Rotary Exchange Students there from CA, Flordia, etc..and got on the plane to Thailand finally! Everyone was talking to everyone and everyone was smiling and laughing...the most anxious nervous feeling started coming when we got closer and closer to Bangkok... When we landed, the plan was outside and we walked off those stair things, and woah a heat wave HIT us!! We had to wear our rotary jackets as you can see in the picture (below) so our families could find us and that for sure didn't help. There was no customs check, we just grabbed our bags and went to the entryway hall to find our parents. What we found there was very unexpected. There was what felt like 1000 people (Thais) surrounding us cheering. We walked down a small path in the middle and tried to recognize our families. I was one of the last to find mine. They gave me a beautiful boquea (?) of flowers and we left. When we got to my house they wouldn't let me carry my two 50 lb bags up 2 flights of stairs and insisted that I take the smallest one! I felt so bad!! Then I went into my very own room. With luxeries I have never experienced including: a queen size bed, tiled floors, AC, a TV, 2 desks, 2 dressers, 2 closets, and a bathroom including a shower and sink!! I have never been so surprised! I was not expecting something so huge!
